The Riffle Fly Shop - Bend Friday, January 30th, 2009
Welcome to The Riffle Fly Shop

There is some new and exciting things happening at The Riffle Fly Shop.  We are pleased to introduce the Riffle Resort.  Cabins are being built as I write and renovations are taking place on our property near Warm Springs.  These cabins will be available for sale or rent for the 2009 season.  Join us at the Pacific Northwest Sportsmen Show in Portland February 4th-8th for the first look at this new project.  Imagine owning a piece of fly fishing heaven near the most productive put in on the Lower Deschutes.  For more information scroll down.

Welcome to Riffle Resort!!!

The Riffle Fly Shop is proud to announce the most exciting news in the company’s history.  Riffle Resort will be open for the Spring trout season at our location near Warm Springs!  Riffle Resort is a full service fly fishing resort located in the canyon of the Lower Deschutes River on site at The Riffle Fly Shop.  We have rental cabins, full deli/convenience store (coffee anyone?), camping, showers, laundry, and of course The Riffle Fly Shop’s world class guide and retail staff at your disposal.  The Resort has been talked about for years, and has now come to life.  If you have any questions please give a call at 541-388-3330.
What makes this Resort unique is the unique lodging aspect.  All of the cabins located on our property will be Park Model Homes.  These luxury cabins are built offsite and then transported to the location.  The reason that makes this unique is that individuals will be able to own these units.  Imagine owning your own cabin on site at The Riffle Fly Shop nestled in the Deschutes Canyon.  Waking up in the morning to stroll down and grab breakfast and an espresso, set up your shuttle for the day’s float, get advice on flies from the shop staff, returning to your own cabin to gear up before hitting the Warm Springs boat ramp only 1 mile away.  After a day of fishing you can BBQ steaks on your own deck before hitting the community fire pit to share stories of the day’s fishing.  Store your drift boat in a covered storage area before heading home.  This is a truly unique place in a truly unique setting.  While not using your cabin, you are free to turn it into the Riffle Resort rental pool on a split basis to recoup dollars on the cost of the unit or the space lease.  This is a very affordable way to get into a beautiful cabin in a great location.
For those not looking to purchase a cabin, we will have these units for rent on a year round basis.  Rent a unit in June for the salmonfly hatch, or in February as a skiing cabin while at Mt. Hood.  All rentals are fully furnished, including dishes and a bbq.  The Riffle Fly Shop guide service will have several lodging/guiding packages available that will take advantage of the proximity of the cabins to the shop, Lower Deschutes, and our private lake venue.  In the fall, come and stay to steelhead fish in the morning, then drive only 12 miles to Gateway Canyon Preserve for an afternoon pheasant or chukar hunt.  Again, this is simply a very unique Resort with unique opportunities.
We have also improved the campground and overnight RV spaces, as well as the bathrooms, laundry facilities and cleaned up the grounds to an amazing degree.
We invite you to call us for more information, or come to see us at the Pacific Northwest Sportsman’s Show February 4th-8th at the Portland Exposition center in Portland, OR.  We will also be traveling to the Fly Fishing Show in Pleasanton, CA February 27th-March 1st, and the Central Oregon Sportsman’s Show in Redmond, OR March 5th - 8th at the Deschutes County Fairgrounds.
These units are for sale now and we are taking reservations and deposits.  We are also booking cabins and guide trip/lodging packages right now.  We have the first two units under construction and they will be available before the season opener!  Please feel free to call for information or to book your lodging and guide trip package today!
Thank you all for all of your support over the years, it is our loyal customers who have helped this Resort become a reality.

Workshops at the Curiosity Shoppe - Bend Tuesday, January 20th, 2009

Happy New Year!!! As I listen to the “We Are One” Concert these new days feel very hopeful!!!!

We are having three scheduled workshops. The first being presented by Mona and Michael
Brown. The next two will be presented by Ken Robinson.

Jan. 29th, Thursday, 5:30-7:30. Mona and Michael invite you to join them as they
present “From Fear to Sacred Abundance.”

They will be discussing how to “change” your perspective in a “changing” world to see the
possibilities of a new focus of life from the inside out.
Fear typically blocks the creative process, disallowing the free-flow of Divine Universal Truth
within us all.

This class will help you see old patterns of belief to the Insights in our world and within us today,
and to recognize how we can make a difference..just by understanding that a deeper more fulfilling
llife awaits us!! They call this “Sacred Sight.”

HOLIDAY SHOPPING

I suppose I cannot send out a December newsletter without mentioning the shopping season that has descended upon us (and so quickly!). Being a bookstore, we are of course well stocked up on books of all kinds. But we also have other gift items, including a lot of toys from Melissa & Doug, a great selection of beautiful journals, plush kid backpacks, and a new shipment of Ugly Dolls. Note to parents of Ugly Doll fans . . . we will not get another shipment in before Christmas, so if you’re looking for Uglies to give as gifts come by soon for the best selection! These have been outrageously popular with kids from 5 to 15. The sale table is still filled, so there’s plenty of opportunity to grab some gifts at a great price. Also . . . gift wrap is complimentary (we have Christmas and Hanukkah paper), as is the coffee through the month of December! Come on in and browse, enjoy a hot beverage, and let us do the wrapping for you.

BOOK CLUB

Open to all! Join us on MONDAY, JANUARY 12, at 6:30 p.m. when we discuss our December pick, HANNAH’S DREAM by Diane Hammond. Hammond is a local author and has been kind enough to agree to join us for the discussion!  If you haven’t picked up the book yet, there’s still plenty of time . . . and as our book club pick, it’s 15% off in December. I can guarantee you’ll be hearing a lot about this book in the months to come, so the time to read it is now!
