Flashback “Cruz” 2008 Monday, July 14th, 2008

Rev up for Flashback “Cruz” 2008, August 1, 2, & 3

‘74 and older vehicles can be registered when we are at the Baxter Auto Parts North Store on Friday morning, in Drake Park after 2 p.m. on Friday, or after 8 a.m. on Saturday. Participants can also visit our web site, www.centraloregonclassicchevyclub.com, to get the pre-registration form for 2008.

The fun starts on Friday at the Baxter North Auto Parts Store for our Pre-Show ‘n Shine, with music by our DJ, Wade Fagen. After a Fun Run around town, participants will “Cruz” to Drake Park for our Pre- Registration Party. “JP and The SoulSearchers” will perform in Drake Park starting at 6 p.m. This is free to the public.

Saturday we begin parking the classic vehicles at 7 a.m. in Drake Park for the Show ‘n Shine. The official start of the event at 8 a.m. begins with the playing of the Star Spangled Banner. Scores of beautifully built and restored classic vehicles will be on display from 8 a.m. to approximately 3 p.m. when we present the “Best Of” Trophies to 65+ winners. The first 300 spectators will be given ballots to select the “People’s Choice” award. This is all free to the public with bus service from Drake Park to Downtown from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. We hope to have a special display of three Drag Race cars by Bucky Austin of Seattle during the Show ‘n Shine and also during the “Cruz” again in 2008.

We have special ADA parking during our event in Drake Park on Saturday, for accommodations and/or other information contact me at 382-9370.

Spectators should be ready to feast on the sights and sounds of the ‘74 and older classic vehicles. The closed “Cruz” will be on the Downtown streets from 6:45 – 9 p.m. A “Winners” Parade Lap will start at 6:45 p.m. There is music at Minnesota and Wall Street by a local group, “JP and The Soulsearchers”, also free to the public from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.

The Silent Auction/Raffle sales will benefit Mt. Bachelor Rotary’s charity Assistance League of Bend.

On Sunday we meet at Riverfront Plaza at 9:30 a.m. for the “Cruz” to Mt. Bachelor for the Car Olympics.

Sisters Summer Faire Saturday – Sunday, August 2-3
Vendors selling their quality handcrafted arts & crafts. Live entertainment both days, food court, children’s play area and free admission. Located in the Village Green Park. Plenty of parking. One block from downtown Sisters. Hours are 10 – 4 both days. Contact: 549.0251. Sponsor: Sisters Area Chamber of Commerce.

Country Fair - Friday – Saturday, August 8-9
The 13th annual event features the juried art show and sale on Friday evening, August 8th, from 5 – 8 p.m. with refreshments served. On Saturday, August 9th, the enchanting Country Fair and Art Show comes into full swing from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. with tents, live music, pony rides, face painting, petting zoo, homemade marionberry cobbler, gourmet garnishes, country store, Transfig Café and Art Show. The Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration is 1/8 mile west of Sisters on Hwy. 242. All proceeds go to outreach programs. Contact: Marcia Wood, 504.9358.

Sisters Bead Stampede Saturday - Sunday, August 9-10
Artists selling their handmade one-of-a-kind beads, jewelry from those beads and also buttons. This show is in its 5th year. Located in downtown Sisters at Barclay Park. Contact 549.0251. Sponsor: Sisters Area Chamber of Commerce. Artist demonstrations onsite.

Sisters Antique Faire Saturday-Sunday, August 16-17
Antique dealers selling quality antiques and collectibles. Clothing, jewelry, furniture, books, western memorabilia and much more. Live auction on Sunday. Classic cars on display. Located in the Village Green Park. Live entertainment both days, food court, free admission and plenty of free parking. Hours are Saturday 9 – 5 and Sunday 10 – 4. Just two blocks from downtown Sisters. Contact: 541.549.0251. Sponsor: Sisters Area Chamber of Commerce.

Art at the Ranch Friday – Saturday, August 29-30
Friday, Artist’s Reception and Silent Auction from 4-7 pm. Saturday is the Show and Sale from 10 am – 4pm. Proceeds help support art in the Sisters schools and purchase art for Black Butte Ranch. Contact Jan Hay at JANHAY@aol.com

Sisters Western & Native American Arts Festival Saturday - Sunday, August 30-31
Vendors selling top quality handmade traditional and Native American wares. A variety of pottery, western and Native American jewelry, art work, clothing, metal art, log furniture and much more. Western music, Native American entertainment, mountain men on site both days. Hours are 10 – 4 both days. Located at Creekside Park, Hwy. 20 & Jefferson.
